My Mission as a Therapist

I have realized that inevitably in life, things will either fall apart or start to feel very stuck. The most difficult thing in these times is to decide if we are going to remain stuck and just keeping our head above water or if we are going to start the difficult and courageous process of healing.

My mission is to help clients create more peaceful, gratifying lives, to provide a safe place for you to heal and grow. For couples, my hope is to help you transform your relationship, support and understand one another and start to feel at home with each other.

Counseling Style

I use a collaborative approach, working with individuals and couples. Together, we set goals for therapy and work toward achieving them.

I encourage self-compassion, something most of us need more of.

I consider it an honor when someone allows me to be a part of their healing process.

My Background

I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples & families. I’ve worked in family therapy clinics, psychiatric hospitals, eating disorder programs and child advocacy agencies. I’ve taught at San Diego State University and published research on empathy in relationships.

I have extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), Emotionally Focused therapy for couples (EFT), The Gottman Method, family systems therapy, solution-focused, narrative therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

When I’m not in the office, you can find me at the beach floundering in the waves with my family or walking along the shore. I always encourage clients to go to the beach for the ultimate mindfulness exercise. Walking on the squishy sand, the wind hitting their face, listening to the waves crash on the beach.
